WHICH IS MORE LIKELY? 1 (FEATURED ARTICLE)
Which is more likely?
The entity alleged to be the creator of the cosmos creates the first two people and places them in a magic garden. Now we all know humans learn to talk, but these two have magic genes—maybe like numerous FOXP2 genes on steroids—that allow them to speak instantly. They not only talk instantly but they also allegedly invent the first language. They are then instructed in this language by the creator not to eat a particular magic fruit in the magic garden. But a talking reptile that obviously was present during the invention of the first language—probably hid under the desk whilst Yahweh, Adam and Eve were busy in the Language Invention 001 class—told them to go ahead and eat the fruit.
The creator, a.k.a. Yahweh, is really cross about this and decides to punish the first two humans and all their descendants for eating the magic fruit. So humans and all life on earth allegedly begin to suffer from parasites and pathogens. The descendants of Adam and Eve then begin to spread across the surrounding region, and something curious must have occurred. Some descendants completely forget about the creator or it was never passed down by them. So a huge majority of humans soon forget about Yahweh and the story of the talking snake. Some go on to invent new gods and religions that seem even older than the story of Yahweh and the talking snake.
At some point, the creator gets riled up again (Invisible cloud people seem to have anger management issues) and drowns virtually all the descendants of the first couple, but leaves Noah, a magic boat builder, and his family alive after a monstrous flood. Again, this new flowering of humans also conveniently disperse and promptly completely forget not only the gods of their recent ancestors but also Yahweh. Apparently, the creator decides to favour some descendants of the first humans to the exclusion of others.
So, some descendants of Noah forget the genocidal flood and the killer genie, spread out and invent new gods. But somewhere in the Middle East, against all odds, some retain a memory of the killer genie. In the meantime, the killer genie pops up every now and then to remind the "favoured" descendants of Adam and Eve that he still runs things.
He then instructs "the favoured" on how to enslave, dispossess and ultimately destroy the descendants of Adam and Eve who obviously inherited the "selective amnesia" genes and had forgotten about him and his mighty deeds. Much later, some members of the human group that remembered the creator and how to please him decide to remind the rest of the world, who had gone on to worship a panoply of gods, that the killer genie is the true god. The Yorubas, the Australian Aborigines, the Andaman Islanders, the Papua New Guineans, the Masai, the Aztecs, the Inca, the Bantu, the Inuit, all had to be reminded of this god and his exploits. Some were reminded by force and told they must accept this story or be "damned."
The point here is this—which is more likely?
That the descendants of humans who allegedly interacted with the creator were not told this great tale, or were told but forgot over time to pass this story on to all their progeny, or they just lost interest and were not that impressed?
Or, like all myths, the story of Yahweh, the talking snake and the killer flood were simply the creation myths of a small number of humans, which through a series of circumstances took on a life of its own?
And why does the genetic evidence debunk this story if the maxim "where diversity lies, origin lies" is true?
